My daily evening escapades

I climbed up the silver painted stairs that led to the highest rooftop of our house. It was time for my daily shenanigans. Ever since I was a kid, my cousins and I were barred from that part of the house. If we were ever to go there an adult would always accompany us. Although the staircase had banisters, for some reason our parents didn't trust us. I wouldn't blame them, we were clumsy kids, and it wouldn't be a surprise if we slipped and fell, and that could lead to a big accident. Now that I've grown up, I find it very stupid to still follow those orders. Besides, defying orders or convention has always been very thrilling for me.

Anyway, the topmost stair was wide enough for me to nestle against the banister rod. After finding a comfortable position, I would play some poetry podcast and stare at the clear sky. Ever since the world has been locked down due to the Pandemic, the pollution has decreased considerably, leaving the sky as clear as ever. If you pay attention, you'll be able to figure out some constellations as well. As for me, well, I've never studied constellations so meticulously. Even so, I love staring at the stars and the night sky. As the winds collide with the locks of my hair, I close my eyes and feel all the chaos and turmoil leave my body. I transport into a state of euphoria. With every line of the poem entering my ears, I give in to that feeling a little more and as it ends I shift back into reality. Nature and literature is an intoxicating combination. For me, this is an escapade from the daily humdrum of life. It adds a value to life and a little willingness to keep hustling in difficult times like this.
